King Salmon
10 to 60 pounds of upper Sac muscle. The trip most folks call about — Bend Reach, Butte City, all the way down to Wilkins.
Book a King Salmon Trip →The fishery
The upper Sacramento — Red Bluff down through Colusa — is one of the great Pacific salmon rivers. Fall and winter runs put 10 to 60 pound fish on our boat, and Mike's been chasing them since 2001. We back-troll, plunk, or side-drift depending on what the river's giving us that week. Some days you're throwing roe under a float; some days you're holding bottom in the current. That's the trade-off you make for actually catching fish.
Season
July through December. Peak weight class usually lands September through November, but the early run in late July and August can be quieter and just as productive. December trips are weather-dependent — we'll be honest if conditions don't make sense.
